racism.

Posted by paradigmvulpes - September 10th, 2010

racism. everyone is racist to some degree, some times its positive, or used for comedy. no one can say that here no racist, studys shows that whites have a harder time identifying blacks from blacks, is even considered weak evidence in court. clearly the DNA of a caucasion and african is different, as the skin is of different pigments and whites cant get sicklecellanemia, unless they have blacks in there family tree.i do admit, my level of racism is probably higher than others.

--- although apparently white can get sickle-cell anemia, that doesn't change the fact that everyone's a little racist, even if its playful, even if you have a black friend, there is still that tiny tiny racist cell in your body.

Im not
In sometime we should realize that there is only human

Asian, European, Mexican, all came from date back to Africa so we all are the same
People are people
None of the crap they use to categorize us

lol, then i'm racist to racists and trolls xD

Uh, yes whites CAN get sickle-cell anemia. Blacks aren't even genetically more likely to get it---rather the higher rate is due to sickle-cell having a survival value against malaria (which is endemic to much of Africa), and thus a large proportion of the African population carries at least one allele (10-40%). Whereas in most of Europe and North America malaria is all but non-existent, so sickle-cell is greatly suppressed by natural selection.

In the USA, the average rate of sickle-cell is about 1 in 5000.
In Americans of African descent living in the USA, the rate is about 1 in 500. It's ten times higher than baseline, but due to sickle-cell being purely disadvantageous in the absence of malaria, natural selection is greatly reducing it from the high expression found in areas of high malarial pressure.

Point is, anybody can get sickle-cell, as it's caused by a random mutation in hemoglobin which can occur in any human.
